Penance, Penance, Penance!

O dear little St. Bernadette, humble little shepherdess, who wonderingly beheld the Lovely Lady of the Grotto, pray for us to our Lady of Lourdes that she may heal us of our ills. St. Bernadette, pray for the sick and the afflicted.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!

St. Bernadette is my ‘uberpatron’. I tried to write a post for her feastday (April 16th), but just couldn’t make it. There are far too many words to describe her on earth, and even more in regards to her help for me. Lord knows I need all the help I can get, and my Saint called upon St. Therese the Little Flower to help (roses and all). I have come to determine that it’s not necessarily a bad thing to have Saints recruited for one’s behalf. Or so I hope…

    Hello, Kim.

I wrote a little about indulgences in the past here: http://acatholiclife.blogspot.com/2005/07/what-are-indulgences.html

You also asked for information on Divine Mercy Sunday. It’s a wonderful day to refocus our attention on the merciful heart of Jesus. There is a whole website on it here:

    http://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/mercy/feast.htm

Basically, we celebrate this day because Jesus appeared to St. Faustina and asked her to spread this. He said her work would also fail and it did, but because of John Paul Divine Mercy Sunday became a reality. I would greatly recommend St. Faustina’s journal. I hear it’s a beautiful read.

I hope this helps! God be with you!

Curious about Divine Mercy Sunday? Check this out.

    From our music director:

    Brothers & Sisters in Christ:

Jesus told St. Faustina that Divine Mercy Sunday, the Sunday after Easter, would be a special day when “all the divine floodgates through which graces flow, are opened.” (Diary 699)

Please come and join me in praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet in song on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 23 at 3pm. You will need to bring your
rosaries. Singing the entire chaplet is around 20 – 30 minutes.

If you would like to learn more about this great Feast of Mercy, go to http://www.DivineMercySunday.com

Please spread the word to your friends and family about this wonderful day of mercy and forgiveness.

    lol

I understand DMS, I’m about a quarter of the way through St. Faustina’s diary. :) However, when I try to explain it to other people; I think I get all mangeled up because it ‘sounds’ like the Crucifixion wasn’t good enough. However, saying Jesus wanted this done and thus that’s His business does help. But then that sorta goes back to the Communion of Saints and whatnot (we’ve not gotten there yet). I understand it, but perhaps I’ve done all I can in terms of explanationing and must resign. :/
