Friends,
I have returned safely from my parent’s house. The only ” :-O ” instance happened when a deer stepped in front of my truck – while I was going 70mph. I slammed on my brakes and he ran, I either missed him entirely or knicked his back legs. 30 seconds later a second deer stepped in front of my truck, but took off much faster when he saw my lights (luckily I was still under speed). Thank God I didn’t pulverize the deer, the person behind me didn’t rear-end me and that we’re all okay. Interestingly, at the time I was avoiding the deer my mom was about 3 hours away thinking “I hope Kim’s not hitting any deer.” The mom ability to know these things is rather creepy, no?
At any rate, I told my mom about the Benedictines. She was rather shocked and like I had thought; assumed that I was going to be a nun, unable to marry or would be unable to finish my education. Interestingly, she did describe the Oblates as “a hidden monk in society” when I was stammering out about the lay orders of the Church. I recommended to her that she watch TLC’s “The Monastery” to sorta get an idea of Benedictine Spirituality. She said she would, so that’s a good thing. While it might be somewhat glammed up for television and there’s a big difference between monks and Oblates, she should see from the series that Benedictines (as all of Catholic teaching and such) is Christocentric.
My mom is also having some circulation problems on top of her Parkinson’s. She’s going back to the doctor as soon as she can get into him. She is having troubles walking, limps alot, her leg is a different color than her other (blueish-purple) and her arm tingles. She also wants to get rechecked for Parkinson’s – apparently a lot of PD symptoms might in reality be due to poor circulation or other illnesses. Please keep her in your prayers.
Also, I have no new news to report from the neurologist.
Finally, a reader from Phatmass recommended St. Maximilian Kolbe to me as the unofficial Patron of Physics. This past Physics exam was the hardest exam of the semester (admitted by the professor and the teaching assistants). My Physics experience is two classes of the same flavor – but not this class. And Physics is not my strong suit. At any rate, I whined to St. Kolbe to please interecede for me with regards to the exam. The class average was a 74%, my score was a 78%.
I’m stoked! It may pull my overall score in the class down, but I still did pretty well on the exam as a whole. Only 2 points shy of a B-! Thanks be to God, and to St. Kolbe for interceeding for me. I will be putting him down as my patron of Physics.
At any rate, I need to shower and have a snack before watching “The Monastery” on repeat tonight. Tomorrow I begin calling the neurologist daily for my test results. Although I am thinking about calling twice a day until she tells me something. Please pray that I hear something – anything – from her.
Pax!!

The fastest way to get a doctor to tell you what you need to know is to pitch camp in their waiting room.
Literally.
Bring a tent, food, and maybe a nice little stove and tell them you won’t leave until they have something for you.
It will really speed up the process.
Anyway, I’m glad you’re weekend went no worse then expected, and yeah for the physics, plates or no plates.
Don’t forget lunch @ 12 on T. with all the FOCUS people (Elise is in town this week so she might be there).
And this comment is rapidly catching up with your post for length (maybe somebody will come to read the comment and stick around for the post).
There will be better and happier posts, one day, if we work at it.

Friends,
I mentioned recently that I had told my mom about the Benedictines. For the most part, she has been less than thrilled. I did my best to try and get her to understand basic things about the Bennies, like I’m not becoming a nun (if I make it to
