Stability

One of the promises I will make as a Benedictine Oblate in the fall (hopefully!) is a promise of Stability. When I was first researching the Benedictines, the promise of stability confused the daylights out of me. I had Fr. H explain it to me. It made a lot of sense but I wasn’t [...]

St. John the Baptist

I’ve been thinking a little bit about St. John the Baptist. Yesterday we celebrated the solemity of his nativity, which probably is why he’s on my mind. St. John’s intruiged me, probably more than I know. His humility and honesty of who he is is inspiring. He could have easily gained a lot of [...]

RLS and heat?

I don’t think anyone who reads this has restless legs syndrome, but I’ve been noticing something interesting with my RLS. The last couple of nights, my legs have been giving me grief through the Gabapentin. Not pain, but the standard “I have to move my legs” feeling and the always fun feeling like there [...]

Clarifying

I feel like I should make a clarification regarding the post about people at work speculating things about the cover without actually asking to clarify why I’m wearing it.

* I do have a reply for people who ask, although it does vary based on whether or not people are being snarky. * I [...]

Thank you for your advice! :)

Thank you for all who have offered your suggestions on my previous post. You all have given wonderful suggestions and words, and I thank you all for it.

In other news, the headcovering I ordered from She Maketh Herself Coverings came in the mail on Friday. I ordered it in powder blue, and it’s [...]

Let’s all speculate, but no one actually ASK.

Apparently I’m quite the talk of work. A fellow came in and inquired about my headcover. He said everyone’s been curious about it but no one has had the guts to ask. :/ I explained as best I could (some people get different explanations, mainly because some people here on the University are super [...]

Anyone need any prayers?

It’s 85 degrees outside, and I’m wearing a fleece jacket. Work is kept at a brisk 70 degrees, mainly to keep equipment cool. It makes for fun times on breaks, everyone’s outside sweating in shorts and tanks; I’m wearing a sweatshirt or a fleece.

With the weather being so ridiculously hot, I’m enjoying [...]

Health Update … for me.

Praise the Lord!

June 13th marked both the official “only 4 months left until the wedding!” point and the official “first day with no Wellbutrin in six months” point. Tomorrow will be one week off of Wellbutrin, and I’m doing fine. My doctor, Dr. F was mildly concerned that the depression that comes from [...]

Winterizing Skirts

So I have a question: with Skirt #1 nearing completion, I’m wanting to begin a second skirt. I’m hoping to make it a winter skirt, but before I jump in and start cutting … are winter skirts like non-winter skirts (obviously different material) or is there a different pattern to them?

I’d like to [...]

“So the wedding was yesterday?!”

This past weekend has been quite the adventure. G and I were to go to a wedding, only to find out we entirely goofed on the day and showed up a day later! :-O We’re going to have to mail the newlyweds our card and whatnot, and apologize. I feel bad, since we RSVP’d [...]
