A Stealthy Blessing

Today Greg and I went to Mass with his parents. As usual, it was an incredible Mass and Monsignor gave a wonderful, thought-provoking, convicting homily. Granted, he always does; but tonight’s was one of his best, I think.

The best part of Mass though was after Monsignor gave me Christ Jesus in the Eucharist, he gave Elise her own blessing. I think she was asleep for it but I about lost it emotionally (in a good, hormonal sort of way). She’s not even born yet and yet he still gives her a blessing.

I don’t know how long Monsignor has been doing that when I receive Christ because he did it so quickly and subtly that I only saw him doing it this time out of the corner of my eye. :) It doesn’t make a difference how long he’s been blessing her – apparently I either take a titch too long to consume Christ or Monsignor is just THAT GOOD at making blessings. ;) I think it’s probably a combination of both.

After Mass Monsignor asked how the “three of thee” were doing. He gets so excited about darn near everything – but especially so with children.

Monsignor rocks.

I loved this post, it brought back some wonderful memories of an Anglican Bishop I knew when I was first saved, he had such a passion for young people and the youth of the church and spent a great deal of time with them. And he would often give “extra”blessings at communion.
    Thanks for sharing!!
