Today begins the Year of St. Paul, in which the Church celebrates the 2000th anniversary of St. Paul’s birth. In addition to appreciating the awesomeness that is St. Paul, we should follow his example (which, I may add he exhorts us to do over and over again in his letters) and be not afraid [...] Greg and I went down to one of the jobs he applied for, as he was originally told that he would be called about an interview either yesterday or today. Apparently, that was misinformation. People will be called next week regardless of if they are going to be interviewed or not – so we [...] Greg and I were driving to our final childbirth class (yay!) when we noticed a guy walking down the sidewalk wearing a shirt that said “100% CATHOLIC” across the front. We both got a kick out of that. I commented that only in this city would you see someone wearing a shirt like that, [...] One of the posters on a forum I hang out on remarked that the situation Greg and I are in is kind of like the Holy Family’s flight into Egypt. Granted, we don’t have a Divine Child or people wanting Elise’s life; but we definitely are in a desert time. We don’t exactly have [...] Monsignor gave a great homily on Sunday – about Original Sin and whatnot. I have been wanting a good, one-line “explanation” of Original Sin. God obviously listened to me and let me know via Monsignor: the inclination to turn away from God and do our will over His. Not something transmitted biologically, but still [...] After what seemed like Winter forever (we basically skipped Spring up here), the Summer weather has finally set in. All week I’ve been able to wear skirts, as I’m incredibly sick and tired of the maternity pants – and the skirts are much cooler. Greg and I went to daily Mass this week as [...] Today at Mass, Greg and I had the privilege of ‘meeting’ Fr. G’s replacement. Fr. B is coming from a parish from a nearby town. Fr. B celebrated a Memorial Day Mass that I had gone to, which explains why he looked so familiar to me! Monsignor celebrated with Fr. B concelebrating. It was [...] I am finding myself enjoying Scott Hahn’s book, First Comes Love: Finding Your Family in the Church and the Trinity. Scott’s books helped me so much when I was undoing the misconceptions of the Church and finding out what the Church really teaches about things – he explains things so clearly and simply yet [...] Today Greg and I went to one of the local thrift stores to get out of the apartment and check the goods.
