Well, we’re back!

My mom had foot surgery done on Friday, so Greg and I came up to take care of her while she recovers. Although we mainly had to remind her to not get up and to make sure her foot is iced. She was not thrilled with having to be off her feet but I think she adapted nicely to everyone meeting her every need. :) We also did housekeeping for her and ran errands while she napped. It was good to see her and she was very excited to see Elise. She spent about all her time when she was waking up from the anesthesia poking and talking to Elise.

The drive up to the Hometown (short and sweet, only 90 miles) apparently was good for Elise, as she’s dropped a little and finally I don’t feel like I’m being constantly suffocated. Dr. M will be happy to hear that. My heartburn is better, as well. And she’s not so low that I think she’s going to fall out. I am waddling slightly, though. And of course, the effects that got on with having someone low in your pelvis. ;-)

Naturally, everything is all weird at the moment in terms of unpacking from the trip (including the plethora of items my mom bought for Elise) and doing laundry and the like. We did go to Mass at the Cathedral there, which was amazing. The priest had an amazing homily and spoke first about the reading (St. Paul’s letter to the Romans) and the Gospel (the wheat and weeds parable). Everything he said could have been hand-tailored for my situation at that moment in time. God is good! :D

Anyways, I should be back to blogging and catching up on blogs soon. I need a nap though – this heat is wearing me OUT!

Thanks, LD! Resting is something I’ve become quite good at these days. XD

I’ve been getting heartburn from things like bread. :S But I found it was the worst when I laid on my right side. I had very mild heartburn last night, enough to notice but not enough to take any TUMS for it. Thanks be to God!

  • Welcome back. Glad you returned safely–rest easy :)

  • Glad to hear everything is going perfectly with Elise and your mum’s surgery went well.

I’m getting really bad heartburn too every night; i’ve never had it before in my life. I’ve realised that cheese really provokes it for me, so I’ve been avoiding it and that has helped.
