Life as a Catholic wife and mother

Past the point of no return

Technically, I guess conception would be “the point of no return” but that’s a different story. ;-)

Today was Elise’s 35 week checkup, and everything is fine for the both of us. I gained 3.5 pounds since I saw the doctor last (I blame my mom’s awesome lasagna, which she made before she had her surgery :-9), my blood pressure is fine, Elise’s heartrate is perfect, and she’s nice and active. She has indeed dropped a little which has been almost the best part of this entire pregnancy.

Dr. M also did the position check and found her ready to go for birth – head in my pelvis, butt under my diaphragm, and looking in the right direction, as well. Deo gratias!

The best part though, is this: if I go into labor from here on out, he will do nothing to stop it.

I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that if I were to go into labor say, tonight; we would be having her. :-O

He’s not venturing any guesses about when I’ll go into labor, which is fine by me (and good!). Everyone thinks early, he’s a little concerned about my Braxton-Hicks contractions (mainly that they’re getting stronger and stronger, plus a batch that really did me in). He’s not doing any dilation checks yet (told ya he’s hands off) but has that air of “if you make it to your due date, I’m going to be impressed.” :)

I’m not going to be holding my breath that labor’s going to start any time soon. She’s not gotten an eviction notice yet, so she can just sit back and bake as long as she needs to. :D

Exciting – definitely. Luckily he didn’t give any prediction – I’m already impatient enough as it is. :)

Ah, but she needs to bake until August 27th!! ;) I’m happy for both of you! She’ll be here when she (and God) are ready for her to be here, but things are looking good, Greg is working, she and you are healthy, and things are moving along well!!

    In Christ,

    Friar Don
