Elise’s Home

She’s been inching her way down pretty steadily. The good news is that I don’t have any massive pressure or aches and pains in my pelvis (yet).

A lot of people feel compelled to comment on the size of my belly – that it’s kind of on the small side. Most people fail to understand that a woman’s first child is usually smaller than subsequent babies as the muscles of the uterus and abdomen are not stretched out. I also am pretty tall, so Elise had plenty of room to grow up before growing out. So while it looks like I’m going to give birth to the World’s Smallest Child, rest assured she is measuring average and is perfectly healthy. Which, of course; is what matters in the end.

Still, it’s annoying for people to comment on how “small” I look with that tone of “you know, you should really stop starving your baby”. Especially when I tell them that my doctor isn’t concerned about her size, so why should I?

But that’s another rant for another day. :) Until I get around to posting it (if I ever do), I’m just going to bask in baby belly goodness.

You and Elise look just fine! Most ladies, imho, binge out and get too tubby with their first, so their bellies look much bigger. Then they realize afterwards that the baby and afterbirth was only 15 pounds of the remaining 45 + :-O

[Watch...I'll get really, really round with my first and have to eat those words, too! ] :-P

Awww, thank you dear. You’re entirely right – I’ve definitely been eating (alot) but with how I’m built, I’ve only gained 25 pounds. Which is where the docs want me, but I look at myself and can’t figure out where most of it went! I know Elise and the placenta will take up some of it but I can’t imagine that I have like, 1-3 extra pounds of breasts and what have you! :P

Ahhh pregnancy weight gain, I have noticed that EVERYONE is an expert!! LOL for awhile I had people telling me I was too big and that I had to be careful cause I would have to loose the weight. But I look big beacause I am carrying very high and out there!! In reality I have only gained about 6kilos through out the whole things which my doctor reckons is spot on infact I have probably lost some of my weight and the rest is Miss Bethany!! :)

But for awhile there I was super sensitve to it so I totally understand!!

While one should not over eat, or eat the wrong things, people put WAY too much emphasis on how you LOOK! Too Big, Too Small, etc. You EXACTLY were God wants you to be. You have enough weight to care for your daughter and yourself, you are not too small or too big. Your doctor would tell you if you were either, and I’m not hearing you say he has!
