Dog Days of Summer

When exactly are the Dog Days of summer supposed to hit? In August?
Regardless, it has been incredibly hot the last couple of days and I have been increasingly feeling crummy. Very tired, run down, upset tummy at times, hot hot hot, moody, irritable, and so forth. I am not a good person to hang around with – I feel bad for Greg’s parents. Hence, lack of posting – not much to post and just too grumpy to do it.
I’ve been making my way slowly through the First Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians. I figure that I will read and study a letter of St. Paul’s each month during the Year of St. Paul. CatholicCulture has some good resources on St. Paul, such as a commentary on his letters. The commentary has been invaluable to me. There’s been much food for thought, and some times I feel bad because I feel like I am reading them too fast, even though it’s taken me a month to get through First Thessalonians! Once Elise gets here I may fall off the wagon, at least until I recover and know how things will (sort of) be.
More pressing than feeling bad about how fast I’m reading St. Paul’s letters, I’ve noticed that my prayer life has slowly been deteriorating. No wonder I find myself up at night, worrying over things I can’t control. After reading some of Fist Thessalonians, I decided to get a ‘game plan’ established to get me back on track. Again, things will most likely change when Elise gets here, but we just will wait and see how. While my routine will change, it may change for the better. Hard to say.
Another appointment for Elise on Monday. Greg will actually be at this appointment – we’re both a little “hmm?” about her size. Last week she (me, technically) was measuring 33 instead of 35. Dr. M didn’t seem too concerned but we’re wondering what’s going to happen if she’s still at 33 this week. So, Greg would like to be there “just in case”. I’m sure everything is normal – she’s been tap-dancing on my ribcage; so I’m not overly worried. Just concerned. Like there’s any difference.

I so understand about the heat and humidity, living in the tropics we have about 6 months of it! It is just sort of starting now, I am soooo glad that by the time the worse of it comes Bethany will be here, I can’t imagine being in the final stages of pregnancy in it. Ewww.
Definately sending you extra prayers!!
