Today has been a busy day, beginning and ending with doctor’s appointments. Elise had her well-child visit and MMR vaccination. She is gaining weight and growing splendidly. Today Advent begins, which brings us to the beginning of a new liturgical year – happy new year! Last night Greg and I set up our Advent wreath: The four weeks of waiting and the Jesus candle. And we changed our prayer area from Ordinary Time: to Advent: [...] Greg and I were originally going to make our Jesse Tree ornaments on the first Sunday of Advent. However, we realized that this Sunday is our once-a-month grocery shopping trip and the day before his interview for IT Job #3. Therefore, we made our ornaments yesterday, while we were waiting for the turkey to [...] For us folks in America, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. While not all my readers are located in America, I think it’s important to take a day and reflect on what we are thankful for. The Eucharist is our Thanksgiving (since ‘eucharistia’ does mean ‘thanksgiving’), and I think sometimes it’s easy to start forgetting the miracle [...] First, Suzanne over at Raising Saints has learned that she has cancer. She is married and has seven kids – please storm Heaven for her! Second, Major Dad (Greg’s father) has bronchitis. He’s also an asthmatic, so naturally bronchitis does NOT help his situation at all. While life has gone on, neither of us have forgotten her. We have found peace through it all – staying close to the Sacraments, praying alone and together, and finding a way to remember her. There’s always so much emotion today, bittersweet [...] As I mentioned last night, I ran into some snags with moving my blog over to WordPress. The biggest thing is that WordPress doesn’t come with a Serendipity importer. There is one available, which worked – to a point. Somewhere around the September 16th, 2009 entry it became hung and timed out. Having nightmares [...] I made it to WordPress, and didn’t screw anything up! It was not as easy as I had planned, but everything came over (posts + categories + comments), so that makes me happy.
