Seven Quick Takes – Long Time Edition

1.
Greg and I decided that now that Ben’s breathing air, to invest in a Reliable Beater for Greg. Our Mom-Mobile (aka, minivan) is great for hauling kids, but not so great on the gas. Through some miracle, we found our (non gas guzzling) Reliable Beater … for $500. Considering we budgeted $1,000 for it; this is wonderful news. It’s definitely not pretty and needs some slight mechanical work; but other than that, it’s great. Once my Dad returns from his latest business trip, he wants to come down and help Greg do the mechanical work (Dad’s a master mechanic, for the record).

Ben is 1.5 ounces from 9 pounds. He can’t fit into any newborn sized clothing and is hovering between 0-3 month and 6 month clothing, depending on the brand. This absolutely blows my mind.

So, Palm Sunday is coming up. Like, THIS Sunday. Wasn’t Ash Wednesday just yesterday?

I’m beginning to go through my wardrobe and figure out what fits and what doesn’t fit. Mainly things like skirts that don’t fit my hips or shirts that are too small. I’m also trying to figure out what I wear (or will resume wearing) regularly and donate what I don’t wear for whatever reason. Maybe it’s the post-partum factor or something but I honestly want to de-clutter everything. EVERYTHING.

5.
Status Update on This New House: we’re (still) collecting bids for the boiler and heating. Granted, there’s still a metric ton of things left to do; but once we get the boiler and stuff installed; it’s pretty much all downhill from there. Drywalling, wiring, getting fixtures purchased and installed, paint, etc. God willing we can move in before August (I honestly think that would take a gigantic miracle) but if we’re not in by Christmas; I’m moving in regardless. ;-)

6.

Will someone please remind me again how I ended up being the Mama to this adorable chubby guy?

I’m having One Of Those Days that requires a large amount of German hip-hop. All I need now is a nice cup of tea and I’m set (both kids are asleep after a morning long “we’re ganging up against you Mama!” nap-strike, praise You Lord Jesus).
