On Divine Mercy Sunday (so, this past Sunday) our little Benedictus was Baptised, thanks be to God. It was fantastic, as all Baptisms are. My cousin took photos and once he gets them to me, I will post some of my favorites. Benedict slept through the whole thing, and especially liked it when Fr. T rubbed the chrism oil on his head. If there’s one thing this kid loves, it’s belly and head rubs.
My personal favorite part of the Baptism (apart from well, the Baptism) was the son of Benedict’s Godparents saying “Blow! Blow!” as soon as the Baptismal candle was lit and handed to the Godfather. I managed to keep it together, despite wanting to burst out laughing.
Benedict still smells like the chrism oil … am I the only one who absolutely LOVES the smell of the chrism oil?
My parents were unable to make it to the Baptism, due to Dad leaving on a business trip (again) and my mom not being able to make the drive on her own. I’m a little bummed, but that’s how life is sometimes. Despite their absence, it was still a holy and festive day.

Congrats Benedict!! Safe and comfortable in the Lord already, so safe and comfortable, he slept through the baptisim!! Cute! Can’t wait to see the pics!
Hope you are doing well Kim!
In Christ,
Don
Welcome, Ben! Looking forward to pics. (:
(And I remember vowing not to bathe Matthias until the chrism smell went away, so you’re not alone, hehe)
Benedict has only had 2 baths since he was born …. a month ago. The chrism smell is starting to fade, so I suppose it’s time for Bath #3.
Congrads on your death and resurrection, Benedict! We had a baptism this Sunday past too (Thomas Sunday in the Orthodox Church – first Sunday after Pascha celebrates the ‘beautiful doubt’ of St. Thomas the apostle) and little Anton, as he is now known, cried the whole way through… Very cute all the same, but his mama said she felt a bit ridiculous bouncing him to keep him quiet as they processed around the font
Christ is risen! x
Awww, how cute! We were expecting Benedict to start crying, as the water was kind of chilly. He did jerk his head at the first pouring, but didn’t wake up.
