Hearts for Home – Week of June 29

Gae writes:

In today’s busy and aggressive society mothers at home are not given much encouragement to be committed to their role in being home.

In my weekly ‘Hearts for Home’ post I am encouraging myself and others to commit to thinking about what 4-6 things we can do each week to bring our thoughts, prayers and actions to keeping our ‘Hearts for Home’.

I am praying that a spirit of gentleness, generosity in thoughts and time along with loveliness and grace would lead us to be all that God wants us to be.

My list for this week:

1. Make sure I really am listening to Greg – not superficial listening but really listening to him.
2. Work on putting together a plan for celebrating important feast days and events to our family (such as Baptisms, birthdays, etc). Ultimately Greg and I would like to have a book of celebrations of the liturgical year that is tailored to our family. So far I have July done (which means I can test drive it in July and see where I need to make adjustments).
3. Find some recipes that are quick and easy to make for the hot summer days (when Greg woke up it was 70*F … at 6am). I’m thinking there’s going to be a bunch of watermelon and sun tea in our future.
4. Keep on our new routine and my health routine to make sure I am running at top capacity for Greg and the kids.

Thank you for hosting, Gae!

@ Antonia – you can listen to Greg, too; if you want. :P

@ Gae – I find myself needing to listen to practically everyone intently … I get so distracted and it’s quite a problem at times.

Please do share the yougurt recipe! Elise LOVES it and I think it would be that much more cost-effective to make it. We have a crock-pot (it’s going to get a good workout this summer, definitely).

I will post my July plans (keep me accountable) and share what works and what doesn’t. I figure by the time Elise will start remembering stuff, all the kinks should be worked out. :D

    Dear Kim,
Oh how glad I am to have you contribute.
Truley listening to God is difficult for me. I often find my own perspective creeping in and then I wonder…Is this what God wants?
Family events and feast days are very important in my opion to creating a close family. I pray your July plans work out for you
i have a great easy to make yougurt recipe i can share with you that makes a bit over 2 liters at a time in the crock pot
Praying for you this week in your goals
    God Bless
    Gae
