August’s plans and festivities

Here are our plans for August. These are based on whether or not Greg’s surgery is successful and how long he spends recovering in the hospital.
6 – The Transfiguration of Our Lord. Since this is the day that Greg goes under the knife, if I can pray the Luminous Mysteries; I’m calling it a good day.
14 – St. Maximilian Kolbe: I’m a member of the Militia of the Immaculata, and I find St. Kolbe’s gift of self absolutely awe-inspiring. We have a book about him (thrift-store find) that Greg and I read to Elise chapter by chapter (99.9% of it went over her head, but it’s her favorite “big kid book”). I need to check our Saints for Young Readers and see if there’s an abridged story of his life, if not; I’ll write my own for Elise. Dinner plans will be kielbasa and potatoes.
15 - Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven: Elise and I are going to make a flower crown for our statue of Our Lady, and I plan on making some fruit salad to share at lunch (we’re meeting a friend of mine from highschool for dinner). I also am going to use a coloring sheets from here for Elise to color (as well as the color sheet of the coronation of Our Lady and St. Kolbe on those feast days).
