At a glance

I am a Catholic SAHM to two kids and three babies in Heaven. I like to write about Catholicism, homemaking, being a Mom, living with three mental disorders, and the like. (more?)

Our Little Moose

Benedict had his 6 month well baby visit today (a few weeks late) and it went off without a hitch. He’s 18 pounds, 2 ounces and 28 inches long. We saw one of our pediatrician’s partners for the visit, and all she said about that was “keep on doing what you’re doing”. He’s still [...]

Mother Angelica On Patience

“Every day, my Jesus, I learn by some situation or experience of my great need of You. When I try to be patient on my own, my patience is forced and short-lived. It is obvious to everyone that I am desperately trying to be patient. When I raise my mind and heart [...]

Hearts for Home – September 28 Edition

1. Try and be more cheerful. Sometimes I get so focused in on what’s going on RIGHT THIS SECOND and sometimes it’s not all good. But in the (eternal) scheme of things, it’s really not that big of a deal. It’s important to deal with life as it comes but I don’t think I [...]

Our Lady’s Virtues – Patience

A few months ago, I wrote about wanting to grow in the virtues of Our Lady. I finally have time to be able to devote myself to reflection and writing, and I think that now is an appropriate time for my soul to undertake such a process. If you have been interested in the [...]

Hearts for Home – September 21 Edition

1. I want to try and make some things that I don’t usually. This week, I’m looking at breads. I found a recipe for garlic bread in the crock-pot, but of course I want to try and make non crock-pot bread. I want to expand my cooking and baking abilities, and bread seems like [...]

Prayer requests

* Both Benedict and Elise have colds. Elise was snuffly when we came back from the angiogram and it’s turned into full on nose faucet. Benedict is also snuffly, so I’m doing my best to take care of them as best I can (which is hard, since there aren’t two of me).

* Greg [...]

Good reads

I’ve discovered a couple of blogs recently that I quite enjoy. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy them, as well.

Lady Modesty – Deborah (aka Lady Modesty) runs JMJ Modest Dress. She writes about everything – modesty, to cows, her family, you name it. In addition, Deborah LOVES St. Benedict, which makes this practically required reading for [...]

Brain Damage

We’re back from the angiogram. Thank you for all your prayers; Greg’s angiogram was successful and showed no new aneurysms. We are basically DONE with endless doctor’s visits, just one last shunt follow-up in November. Thanks be to God!

We did learn the extend of Greg’s brain damage from his burst aneurysm almost [...]

Our recent book finds

One of the things I’ve enjoyed is searching thrift stores and our local used bookstore for books. I try and keep my eyes open for books related to Catholicism, good children’s books, homemaking, homeschooling, sewing, cooking, and the 2001: A Space Odyssey series. We went to the used bookstore yesterday after a LONG while, [...]

Remembering Today

God of peace, bring your peace to our violent world: peace in the hearts of all men and women and peace among the nations of the earth. Turn to your way of love those whose hearts and minds are consumed with hatred.

God of understanding, overwhelmed by the magnitude of this [...]
