When Panic Attacks

One of the biggest things I hate about having panic attacks is that when I have them, they absolutely wipe me out for at least half a week. I don’t know what it is but I have a heck of a time recovering from them. It’s not that I’m non-functional, I am; but I’m so tired and hungry and just feel worn out until everything straightens itself out inside. It’s almost like shaking a snow globe – everything is chaotic but eventually it all calms down.
The past weekend I had a gigantic panic attack, probably one of the worst I’ve had in a long time. I was absolutely sure I was dieing, it felt as if I was dieing, and it lasted for what seemed like an eternity. I’m sure if that panic attack happened in public I would have been transported to the hospital immediately. Thankfully I had my anti-anxiety meds and Greg was helping me through it, but it’s still just so incredibly ugh.
I feel as if I’m just now getting back on top of things, feeling well-rested and back to normal.I could use some prayers, though; if anyone has a few to spare.
With that being said, I’m going to curl up with a nice cup of tea, a good book, and relax for the evening.

I had panic attacks when I was 23 because of my boss. Fortunately I quit and haven’t had one since. They suck. Do you know why you are having them?
I hope you got to enjoy your evening!

I realize you mentioned your Third Disorder is anxiety related. What I meant was, do you know what might be triggering enough anxiety to bring on the attack?

Hi Katherine, not yet. I know that the Third Diagnosis sometimes feeds into the depression and the panic. So, hopefully by getting the T.D. manageable, everything else will die down.

I feel I can somewhat empathize. I experienced a few panic attacks. One I think ironically was in a health food store. As soon as I left my panic attack instantly vanished. I wish you success in dealing with your attacks.
I am female. Reason for mentioning that is the main symptoms ,as a rule, are different for females and males. Source American Psychiatric Assn. Females hyperventilation. Males severe chest pain. Proposed reasons. Women are more comfortable with mental illness than men. Not that MI is comforting. Men would rather think of themselves as suffering from a heart attack than view themselves as mentally ill. Not saying panic attacks is a psychiatric illness. Just how panic attacks are perceived by most males.
