Hooray! It’s the feast of St. Benedict today! Being a Benedictine Oblate and having a Benedictine son, it’s a very happy day today! My personal preference is that we celebrate both St. Benedict’s days – the Death of St. Benedict in March and then his feast day -today – on the revised calendar. In [...] In celebration of a lot of things (good health screening results, cativity-free AND freak-out free dental appointment for me, drywall progress) I present: pictures! Our feast of St. Scholastica included this book:Elise thought the book was about her brother. Every picture she would point to St. Benedict and say “Brudder! Brudder!” Our Lady of [...] While most of the country is watching the Super Bowl, I’m blogging. 3 – St. Blaise. We celebrated by having Monsignor over for dinner and received the blessing of throats. Thank you, Monsignor!! 10 – St. Scholastica. I really like this litany to St. Scholastica. 11 – Our Lady of Lourdes. Another white [...] Yeah, I know; January is pretty much half over. But, better late than never, right? Janaury is devoted to the Holy Name of Jesus. Here’s what’s in store for the rest of the month. We celebrated Mary, Mother of God; Epiphany, and the Baptism of Our Lord in the first half of it. [...] I had this corkboard from when I was in college. I used it then to tack up pictures and to-do lists. When we moved up here, it kind of sat in our kitchen with a few verses from Sacred Scripture on it and a picture of the Resurrection.Every time I saw it, I thought [...] 1 – All Saints Day: We really didn’t do anything on All Saints Day proper. We did have a fun time at Maria’s All Saints Day party the night before though! 2 – All Soul’s Day: I made some delicious tinga and we made sure we said some prayers for our dearly beloved. 21 [...] Sunday we had the privledge of going to Maria’s amazing All Saints Day party. We all had a blast. Maria did an outstanding job with the party, despite the fact she could go into labor any day now. The party started with the Litany of Saints (long version). How beautiful it was to [...] 2 – Feast of the Guardian Angels. I really like this little craft using hand and foot prints to make an angel. 7 – Our Lady of the Rosary. I plan on using up some potatoes and making “Victory Vessels“. I also want to attempt to make a paper chain Rosary decade with Elise. [...] I feel like an absolute goon for being late for getting this up. We are only celebrating two feast days this month (due to traveling and such), with one already happened! But, better late than never; right? 3 – St. Gregory the Great. We celebrated with Greg’s favorite food – BBQ chicken pizza.
