One of the things I love about the New Year is that the blogosphere is abuzz with everyone’s favorite books from 2011, and their recommendations for books to read in 2012. Allow me to jump on the bandwagon. Last year I read 49 books. Which isn’t bad, considering if you look at my “Books [...] Lacy over at Catholic Icing posted this very cute, very simple “jewel cake” for St. Basil’s day. We had a lot of fun assembling it and of course, eating it! Elise was especially thrilled with the jewels inside! Our jewels waiting to be jewel-i-fied. Elise helping by making sure [...] If I’m not returning phone calls or answering e-mail for the next year, blame Greg. For Christmas, he lavished me in some things that makes my heart go pitter-patter. Behold, I present to you: Yes, I am truly understood by my husband. If you’re curious, here are my goodies: The Three [...] It’s that time of the year again – to ask the Holy Spirit to send me a special Saintly companion for the upcoming year. Thanks be to God, He has sent me two – in addition to my small army of patron Saints (which is quickly expanding, in light of the mental stuff I’m [...] In celebration of the completion of the house, I used the rest of my spending money from our vacation and went on a mini shopping spree at Amazon for books. I knew which books I wanted, and happily most (if not all) of the books were available used, in good condition and a reasonable [...] Today, all things considered, has been good. Lots of crying, lots of sadness, but a lot of optimism. My doctor, Greg, and I all agreed that given my physical state (absolutely no sign of miscarriage still) and mental state (eh) that it would be wise to proceed with a D&C. Mine will be tomorrow [...] There was a post I had in Drafts, praying so hard it could see the light of the Internet. It could not. Not long after our miscarriage in May, we were cautiously excited to learn we were expecting again. Immediate bloodwork was done, progesterone was started. The betas were fabulous and I could stop [...] Hooray! It’s the feast of St. Benedict today! Being a Benedictine Oblate and having a Benedictine son, it’s a very happy day today! My personal preference is that we celebrate both St. Benedict’s days – the Death of St. Benedict in March and then his feast day -today – on the revised calendar. In [...] Last night I had some major optimism when the spotting went away for a couple of hours. However, it returned around 10pm last night and has steadily progressed to light bleeding, to moderate bleeding with some slight cramping. Everything is pointing to miscarriage, despite seeing what we should be seeing yesterday. I haven’t actually [...] Okay, so I had all these great ideas for writing this post. In fact, I started hinting about it – that’s what those two medical appointments are about. Obstetrical appointments. BABY APPOINTMENTS!! Any and all posts I had written in my head disappeared this afternoon, when I began spotting. And not ‘old blood’ spotting, [...] |
